Arav and Ankit claim junior titles

With sheer determination, Ankit Bhateja won the U-16 boys title against former champion Dattaraj Naik 4-0, 4-1 at the Gadre Gaspar Dias Open tennis tournament underway at the Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias courts, Miramar.

Panaji: With sheer determination, Ankit Bhateja won the U-16 boys title against former champion Dattaraj Naik 4-0, 4-1 at the Gadre Gaspar Dias Open tennis tournament underway at the Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias courts, Miramar.
Arav Eshwar won the finals in the U12 boys category defeating Punit Phadte with a score of 4-3,4-3. Arav was in fine form as he clinched the title.
Tournament favourite Vara Eshwar won the U-12 girls and U-16 girls categories. In the finals of the U12 girls category Vara defeated Vidhi Naik 4-0, 4-0 while in the U16 girls category she won over Simran Bundela 3-4, 4-3, 10-6.
Simran Khan and Nicole brought their A' game defeating their opponents en route to the finals of ladies singles.
In the men's singles quarter-finals, Tejas Shevde thrashed Kafil 4-0, 4-0.
Dynamic duo Sandeep Vernekar and Nicole storm into the next round by edging out Krutika Mashelkar and Kshitij Garg with the score 4-1, 4-1 in straight sets in the Mixed Doubles category. Also, Tejas Shevde and Sophie Chowgule beat Nicole and Sandeep with a score of 6-1 and made their way into the semi- finals.
In the men's doubles semi-final, Tejas Shevde and Nathan Chowgule won against Rajaram Kundaikar and Stendhal Pereira 6-1, 6-1 in straight sets setting themselves further into the finals. In other men's doubles semi-finals Kafil and Sandeep beat Nagesh and Shiva with a score of 4-2, 4-3 (6).
In the mixed doubles category Shiva Bala and Tashina beat the budding siblings Arav Eshwar and Vara Eshwar with a score of 4-2, 4-1.
