5 Easy steps to make Goa's popular Christmas sweet, 'Gons'

Gons, a delicious sweet that's increasingly gaining popularity in Goa, is made with tender coconut, sugar and rose water/essence (optional). Here's how you can easily make Gons at home ...

STEP 1

Break the tender coconut in half, and reserve the water.

STEP 2

Carefully remove all the kernel from the coconut shell, slice into thin strips, and place them in a vessel or pan.

STEP 3

Next, add sugar and rose water (as required) to the tender coconut strips. Stir well.

STEP 4

Mix all the ingredients together on medium heat for a few minutes until the sugar has melted and all the strips are evenly coated.

STEP 5

When done, place about 1 tablespoonfull of the mixture onto a small piece of wax/ baking paper. Allow it to cool and dry completely. Your delicious Gons are now ready to serve.
