In Goa, August is the month when harvest feasts (Konnsanchem fest) are celebrated in churches across the state. Here are some feasts which aren’t so well known.

AUGUST 5

The first harvest feast to be celebrated in Goa is in Our Lady of Snows Church, Raia, South Goa, on August 5.

AUGUST 6

In Bardez, the first harvest feast takes place on August 6 in the Saviour of the World Church, Salvador do Mundo.

AUGUST 6

Along with Salvador do Mundo, the first harvest feast in Bardez is also held at St Thomas Church, Aldona.

AUGUST 7

The feast of St Cajetan is celebrated in St Cajetan’s Church, Old Goa, on August 7. Also known as the Church of Our Lady of Divine Providence, the church was modelled on St Peter's Basilica in the Vatican, and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

AUGUST 10

The feast of St Lawrence, in Sinquerim, is celebrated in a big way on August 10 at the St Lawrence Church (Sao Lourence Igreja em Sinquerim). It is significant as it marks the opening of the sand bar in the River Mandovi.

AUGUST 21

In Tiswadi taluka, Konnsanchem fest, is first celebrated at St Michael's Church, in Taleigao village, on August 21 with much pomp and tradition.

AUGUST 24

Konnsanchem fest is celebrated at Holy Cross Church, St Cruz, on August 24. The facade of the church is a replica of the Se Cathedral, Old Goa.
