Want to experiment with something different this summer? Try out these healthy summer drinks from Goa which are made from flowers and millets.

BLUE PEA FLOWER DRINK

To make this drink, you will have to boil water and then add the flowers to it. When the water has boiled and gets a blue colour, strain it. You can then add honey to this liquid and drink up. If you love a little tangy flavour, add lemon and make a lemonade.

LOVE APPLE DRINK

Love apples are just pure love, and if you're someone who enjoys sherbets, then you will have to first cut the love apples into pieces and grind them to a paste. In another pan, make a sugar syrup, and add the paste to it. Stir for 5 mins. Store this liquid in a glass jar. When required, you can this liquid to a glass of water and add honey to taste.

CASHEW SQUASH

This is something similar to niro, which every Goan has probably tasted. To make this drink, one needs to first boil cashew apples. When done, cut them into pieces and grind to a paste. Add the paste to sugar syrup and boil for a few minutes. You can also add soda to it to give it a punch.

HIBISCUS FLOWER DRINK

To prepare this drink, you will need to boil the flower petals (avoid using the inside of the flower). Boil for 10 to 15 minutes, and then strain the liquid. Before drinking, add honey or sugar.

IXORA DRINK

Ixora petals can be added to boiling water for a tasty, healthy drink. Add honey to taste, if necessary.

This is a traditional recipe found in Goan homes, and is locally called ambil. It is popularly consumed during summer to beat the heat.
