The statue of the patron of the church, St John the Baptist, also known as Sao Joao Baptista, can be seen on the main altar of the church
In spite of the rain, there was a traditional festive procession
The Bishop of Sindhudurg, Bishop Anthony Alwyn Barreto, was the main celebrant of the high mass
The church was packed in spite of the inclement weather
The statue of St John the Baptist is decked with masses of flowers, reminiscent of his preaching in the wilderness
