The Goa College of Art, Altinho, Panjim, looked festive at the Dahi Handi celebrations yesterday, with students dressed up as the Hindu god, Krishna, and his consort, Radha.

BREAKING THE POT

The student, dressed as Lord Krishna, made the first attempt to break the pot (matka) filled with curd (dahi).

HUMAN PYRAMID

A human pyramid was formed, in traditional style, to enable the participants to reach the painted, earthen pot which was tied high up on a pole.

ANNUAL TRADITION

Every year, on the occasion of Janmashtami, students of the Goa College of Art observe the traditional breaking of the pot of dahi (curd).

SOUND OF MUSIC

The role of Lord Krishna was well-enacted, with the student even playing the flute, bansuri, which is associated with the god.

GUESS WHO?

Students were seen dressed as various characters from the life of Krishna.

MYTHOLOGICAL SCENE

One of the students was dressed as Lord Krishna's father, Vasudeva, and carried a basket with baby Krishna.
