WHY ARE GOA'S BEACHES CLOSED?

Due to the cyclonic weather conditions and the onset of the monsoon showers, beaches in Goa have closed for swimming and other related activities.

RED ALERT

The Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) has issued a High Wave Alert for coastal areas of Goa.

FULL STOP

The public has been advised not to panic, and also to avoid plying small vessels near the shore.

HIGH WAVES

The Captain of Ports Department, Panjim, has instructed fishing vessels to return to their respective jetties, or safe anchorage, and have been permitted to ply for emergency purposes only.

Several tourists and locals were seen on the beaches in spite of the weather warnings. Not just that, many were seen bathing in the treacherous waters, too.
