SUMMER'S HERE

LET FUN ROLL

There was never a need for alarm for children to wake up during their summer break. As soon as the sun rose, they all eagerly got out of bed to kickstart their day and look forward to never-ending fun.

KICKING AROUND

In the absence of fancy gadgets like mobile, children would spend their time by meeting up and heading to a nearby open area to play outdoor games such as football or logorio (seven tiles).

MANGO MANIA

Back then, mango trees were common in most Goan backyards. And every neighbour's nightmare came true when village kids threw stones at, and stole their ripe ambes (mangoes) during the season.

CHEERS!

Goan Summer and seasonal flavour urrak go hand in hand. It was common to see Goans enjoying their urrak sitting in their balcaos. They would relish it with a mix of Limca, salt, lime, and a slit green chili.

MAKE A SPLASH!

Summer was time for reuniting with cousins and other family members. Holiday plans were made well ahead of time, and one of the essential activities was an overnight family picnic by the beach.
