On Panjim's 18th June Rd, all traffic rules come to naught

STATE OF THINGS

Panjim's 18th June Road is one of the worst streets for traffic where cars have a hierarchy and pedestrians have no say.

NO CHANGE

A car parked in this fashion is the order of the day. This also reduces the width of the motorable road leading to traffic snarls.

PARKING BLUES

The street between the Yes Bank and the HDC Bank is where all parking etiquettes are thrown to the wind. Even the footpaths meant for pedestrians are taken.

OWNING THE STREET

While one can see vehicles parked on both sides of the road, this one adds to the existing chaos.

NO CONTROL

The parking attendants just collect parking fees and have no control over how people park their vehicles. Also, pay-parking has not helped in improving the traffic flow on this stretch.

UNREGULATED PARKING

The problem is exacerbated when cars are parked outside the area meant for parking of vehicles as one can see in this photo (see the car parked 4th from left).

PAINFUL STRETCH

The stretch from Gujarat Sweet Mart to Bombay Bazaar is the most painful to drive on because of the haphazard parking.
