Panjim's Feast of the Immaculate Conception is a showcase of tradition

THE BIG DAY

The annual feast of the Immaculate Conception was celebrated with traditional pomp at the Immaculate Conception Church, Panjim, on December 9 this year.

HIGH MASS

The Auxiliary Bishop of Goa & Daman Archdiocese, Fr Simiao Purificaçao Fernandes, was the main celebrant at the feast mass which was held at 10 am.

IN ATTENDANCE

Devotees of all ages, who had come from Panjim and beyond, could be seen in the congregation, attending the feast mass.

FESTIVE PROCESSION

Following the feast mass, there was a procession led by children, dressed like angels.

KEEPING TRADITION ALIVE

The procession went around the church, and included members of the church confraria, wearing red and white, and carrying a statue of Our Lady.

ORA PRO NOBIS

After the mass, the faithful were seen queueing up for the veneration of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception.

MUSIC TO THE EARS

On the occasion, a brass band played festive tunes that added to the cheerful ambience.

SWEET MOMENTS

Like all major feasts in Goa, this feast was also accompanied by a fair, selling traditional sweets, khajem.
