UNDERSTANDING HISTORY

Saptakoteshwar Parikrama (history trail ) was organised by Vivekananda History Research and Conservation group, Keri-Sattari, to understand the aspects of history and culture related to the Saptakoteshwar temple in Naroa village.

HOLY CONFLUENCE

The trail started from a temple site where five rivers of Goa -- Zuari, Valvonti, Bicholim, Mhadei and Khandepar -- meet at Old Naroa (Divar island). The place is known panchganga sangam.

HATKESHWAR TEMPLE

The Hatkeshwar temple dedicated to Lord Shiva on the banks where five rivers meet at old Naroa.

OLD AND HISTORIC

An old tomb built in 1818 is a structure built in a graveyard in Hindole village. The famous Masana Devichi Jatra or feast of ghost is celebrated every year on Gokulashtami day here.

PRESENT-DAY NAROA

A ferry trail will take you to the present-day new Naroa village which was earlier known as Hindole.

CARVED BEAUTY

Idol of Lord Ganesh carved on a laterite stone. This stone is said to be situated on the path through which the Saptakoteshwar linga was taken to its present place in Naroa, Bicholim.
