Sweet Sundays of ‘Shravan’ in Goa

During the Hindu holy month of 'Shravan' in Goa, devotees go on a ‘shivrak’ diet. In addition to that, certain special sweets are prepared on each Sunday of the month.... 1st Sunday: ‘Mutli’, made of rice, coconut and jaggery, are prepared on the first Sunday of the month of ‘Shravan’
2nd Sunday: ‘Patoyos’ (made of rice, coconut and jaggery) are prepared on the second Sunday
3rd Sunday: ‘Uphar’ is made from rice, mung, coconut and jaggery, and is the special of the day
4th Sunday: On this day, ‘God pole’ – made of rice, urad dal, coconut and jaggery – are prepared
In case there is a 5th Sunday in the month, ‘tavsali’ is prepared using cucumbers, coconut, jaggery and rice
