The Goa Captain of Ports authorities seized five passenger boats for overloading and operating without valid license.
The boats were seized in a surprise inspection at Candolim and Sinquerim on Friday, January 20, 2023.
The boats were found plying more number of tourists than permitted.
The influx of tourists has led the operators to accommodate more commuters than the permitted capacity.
The CoP authorities said many of the operators are functioning without proper licenses and training.
They said in the days to come, more such surprise raids will be conducted.
Goa is well-known as a watersports destination.
Baga, Candolim and Calangute in the North coastal belt are known for watersports.
