When kings from Chandor led the way...

FEAST OF THREE KINGS

The feast of epiphany, also called three kings feast, was joyously observed in the village of Chandor, located in South Goa, on January 6, with much grandeur and merriment.

YOUNG MONARCHS

Every year, three youngsters from certain families are selected to become the king, and this year Johan Leander Mascarenhas Marrod from Guirdolim Chandor, Jayden Cardozo representing New Township Chandor, and Neil Fernandes hailing from Kulsabhat Chandor were chosen. 

MY RIDE

First, the three youngsters dressed as kings arrive at the chapel of Our Lady of Piety, situated on a hill in Chandor.

FAITH CALLS

The kings then proceed in a procession to the main church of Chandor - Nossa Senhora de Belem -- followed by families and parishioners as the band plays customary rhythms.

EAGERLY AWAITED

Crowds line the streets eagerly anticipating the arrival of the kings on horseback.

GIFTS FOR THE OCCASION

The three kings also come bearing gifts for Jesus to celebrate his birth.

UNIQUE TRADITION

Chandor is one of the three places in Goa which celebrates the feast of epiphany in a unique manner, the other two being Verem (Reis Magos) and Cansaulim.
