IFFI 2022: Goan filmmakers get a slice of silver screen fame

After a long fight to provide a platform to Goan filmmakers to showcase their work at international level, the day was finally here when four out of six short films made by niz Goemkars (sons of the soil) were screened under the Goa Section at the 53rd International Film Festival of India.

The four films included Ardo Dis by Himanshu Singh, Before I Sleep by Arvin Vaz, Nimnya Disaak by Rajarram Gopal Turi, and The White Dream by Vaibhav Naik.

The screening of the films saw huge turnout of audience. The cast and crew of the films were felicitated before the screening.

Speaking to mediapersons, director of Ardo Dis, Himanshu Singh, said that a platform like IFFI is a good boast to filmmakers. "It is very good that authorities like IFFI are giving young filmmakers a platform. It is totally a wonderful feeling," he added.

Without a dedicated team and cast, the film wouldn't be possible said director of The White Dream, Vaibhav Naik. "I would like to thank my team and IFFI for this opportunity. I am glad that we were able to highlight mental disorder and place this subject before the audience," Naik said.

Director of Nimnya Disaak, Rajarram Gopal Turi was overwhelmed by the response at IFFI and said that this is great moment for all to be part of a very big screen.

The four films at IFFI in the Goa Section dealt with varied subjects like mental health, death, relationships, etc. They also touched upon issues such as alcoholism, smoking and poverty.

Most of the cast and crew of these were Goans, while few were popular artists and many freshers.
