Sunaparanta Goa Centre for the Arts and Goa Open Arts are readying to unveil Shadow Script, an exhibition marking the 5th edition of the Goa Open Arts Catalyst Grants 2024-25.
Established in 2020, these grants have supported Goa’s artist community in sustaining and expanding their creative practices. This exhibition highlights the work of the most recent cohort of grantees, featuring a wide range of artistic approaches and explorations.
Opening on April 10, 2025, with an evening that promises artistic flair and insightful discussions, Shadow Script will feature the dynamic works of an eclectic group of artists: Divyesh Undaviya, Kiran Tamboskar, Pragya Bhagat, Shilpa Mayenkar Naik, Shyam Pahapalkar, and Sumit Naik.
Adding an international dimension, the exhibition also includes collaborations from Studio Button, led by the visionary Katerina Kubareva, alongside the innovative artist Nataliia Marynenko.
The exhibition explores themes of time, memory, and perception—examining what is seen, what is hidden, and what endures. Shadows, both real and symbolic, become a means of storytelling, revealing histories, shifting landscapes, and evolving identities.
The opening, starting at 6 pm on 10 April, will feature a walkthrough with the artists themselves, offering an intimate glimpse into their creative processes and the inspirations behind their pieces.

This interaction provides a rare opportunity for art enthusiasts, collectors, and critics to engage directly with the minds shaping contemporary art in Goa and beyond.
Shadow Script runs until May 3, 2025, showcasing Goa's evolving art scene and the power of platforms that support emerging artists.
This year’s Engage grant has been awarded to Studio Button (led by Katerina Kubareva) in collaboration with Nataliia Marynenko. Studio Button, a Siolim-based animation studio, uses art as therapy.
For Shadow Script, they showcase a project developed with children from Isha Kripa Sadan, a temporary home for girls in distress. Over 10 months, they have worked with the children to create an animated film, offering them a creative outlet and a way to share their stories.
The exhibition presents this film alongside abstract works by the children, reflecting their journey of co-creation.
