Babu Kavalekar made a mistake by leaving Congress: Avdhoot Amonkar

Quepem Congress block President Avdhoot Amonkar on Thursday, December 23, said that Chandrakant (Babu) Kavlekar made a mistake by joining BJP as Quepem is the stronghold of Congress.

"He must have realised what a big mistake he made by joining BJP, as Quepem is the stronghold of Congress and BJP should keep in mind that this constituency will be won by Congress," Amonkar said.

On Tuesday, BJP held a public meeting in Quepem where BJP state president Sadanand Shet Tanavade slammed Alton D'Costa and Congress.

Reacting to Tanavade's comments, Amonkar said, "it is unfortunate that Sadanand did not know who is Alton D'Costa and his political journey, even after having such a high position."

Amonkar said that Alton D'Costa was not new in the political area and that his journey started even before Quepem MLA Babu Kavlekar.

Amonkar said that Tanavade should not have been informed by his party workers as to who started his political journey after Kavalekar was elected as a district panchayat member in 1994 and after he was the sarpanch of Fatorda Panchayat.

He further said that instead of criticising Congress Tanavade should take action the minister who is involved in a sex scandal. "It is a big mistake that Babu Kavalekar left the Congress and joined the BJP. The Quepem constituency is the stronghold of the Congress and we will get it back," Amonkar said.
