Goa Congress urges Curtorim to ensure 'traitor' Reginaldo's defeat in polls

Days after former senior Congress leader and Curtorim MLA Aleixo Reginaldo left the grand old party to join TMC, Goa Pradesh Congress Leaders on Wednesday, December 39, descended into Curtorim to launch a barrage of attack on Reginaldo, urging people to vote against the former MLA in numbers.

Addressing a rally in Curtorim, Girish Chodankar said Aleixo Reginaldo is a "backstabber" who not only betrayed Congress but also betrayed all the Curtorim people who were elected him.

"Reginald was in good terms to Pramod Sawant, but we still kept patience about it. On his 50th birthday, there were so many congress leaders who stay near his house but his chief guest was Pramod Sawant. This is just one example, there are many such events which can be brought up," Chodankar said.

South Goa MP Francisco Sardinha addressing a rally in Curtorim

Congress Goa Desk in Charge, Dinesh Gundu Rao, called him a 'traitor' and said that he left the Congress at the eleventh hour with malafide intentions. "He was literally trying to blackmail m to arrange money or else would accept the offers from other parties. I am confident people of Curtorim will teach him a lesson by not just defeating him in the elections, but ensure he loses his deposit," Rao said.

South Goa MP Francisco Sardinha called on the people to send Reginald home this time, alleging that he had gone to Trinamool for his interests.

"People will stand by the Congress to elect the party candidate, promising the people he would take up development in the constituency through the MPLAD scheme," Sardinha said.

South Goa district president Joe Dias, Congress leaders from Curtorim Joseph Vaz, Basil Fernandes, besides block president Milagres Fernandes were also present at the meeting.
