Party workers, Journalists side-lined at Amit Shah's meet, denied entry

Union Home Minister Amit Shah's meeting in Vasco on January 30, saw resentment among journalists as local journalists were side-lined.

BJP workers have also expressed their displeasure over the secondary treatment meted out to local journalists as well as party workers.

Amit Shah, who was on a day-long trip to the poll-bound state, arrived in Goa in the afternoon to campaign for the party for upcoming Goa Assembly elections.

He addressed at public meeting in Ponda in the afternoon and later in the evening in Sanvordem constituency and met BJP workers and voters.

A meeting of Amit Shah was held at railway community hall in Vasco at 8 pm amid tight security. However, only few BJP workers were given entry and were allowed inside.

Many party workers and journalists were not allowed to enter or even move around the gate.

When local journalists came to the meeting, they were stopped by the security at the gate. On being questioned, security claimed that they was not allowed to enter in by the BJP spokesperson.

BJP spokesperson Girish Borkar, who was at the gate to allot passes, kept the journalists turning around pretending that he did not know him.

General Secretary of Vasco BJP Mandal Girish Borkar was giving out passes to his close associates, but not journalists.
