Rohan Khaunte, who is an two-time Independent MLA of Porvorim resigned from his post as an MLA.

Rohan Khaunte, who resigned as independent MLA from Porvorim on Wednesday, is all set to join BJP on Friday, December 17.
“I have decided to join the BJP to ensure the continuity of Porvorim’s development as well as imbibe a culture of inclusiveness and togetherness,” he said in a statement.
“While thanking you all fro the bottom of my heart for the decade long support and love showered upon me, I wish to inform you all that in consultation with my supporters and well wishers, I have decided to join BJP,” said the two-term MLA.
Rohan Khaunte, who is an two-time Independent MLA of Porvorim resigned from his post as an MLA. When asked about what made him to resign he said that "The Political situations are changing here in Goa and I don't think that Goa is a toy store and I won't let Goans be any toys. For this we need to take strong steps in the interest of Goa."
Rohan Khaunte was first elected as an MLA in 2012 from the newly constructed Porvorim Constituency and was retained in 2017. He also served as a Cabinet Minister in the BJP Government which was headed by the Late CM Manohar Parrikar and Pramod Sawant.
He is also the first legislator to win Assembly elections for consecutive term as an Independent
