Rahul Mhambrey, Goa Aam Aadmi Party convenor, on Wednesday, tendered his resignation from the post including as its national spokesman, citing "personal reasons", days after the Arvind Kejriwal-led outfit put up a sub-par performance in the Assembly polls winning just two seats.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader said he has tendered his resignation as the party's Goa convenor, a member of the national executive and also from the new post of national spokesman.

NatSecretary @pankajgupta bhai, I thank the party & Arvind Kejriwal ji for entrusting me with the additional responsibility of National Spokesperson. Due to personal reasons, I hereby request you to accept my resignation as State Convener, Nat Executive & Nat Spkperson.

My best wishes to all the selfless volunteers and supporters of AAP Goa who have always stood with me through this journey. I will always be there for Goa and Goenkars. Viva Goa," Mhambrey tweeted.

Mhambrey has been associated with the AAP for more than five years and led the party in the February 2022 Goa Assembly polls, which saw it winning two seats - Benaulim and Velim - out of the total 40. Mhambrey, however, maintained he continues to be a member of the party.

Rahul Mhambrey contested from the Mapusa constituency and lost to BJP's Joshua D'souza in the recently concluded Goa Assembly election
