Goa: Nine positive cases of Covid-19 reported; tally goes up to 31

PANAJI: Goa reported nine positive cases of COVID-19 on Monday, taking the total number of active COVID-19 cases in the State to 31.

Director of Health Services, in a bulletin issued, stated: "Nine suspect cases of COVID-19 were tested positive. Of these, four have travelled by train from Delhi, four from Maharashtra and one by road from Karnataka."

All the nine patients are currently managed at ESI Hospital, Margao (COVID Hospital) and their condition is stable, informed DHS.

DHS said that 238 people have been put under home quarantine on Monday (interstate domestic travellers) and 174 travellers have been kept under facility quarantine.

DHS also informed that four suspects have been kept under hospital isolation.

"Out of 959 samples tested, 879 are negative, nine are positive and 71 reports awaited," stated DHS. 

Presently there are nine patients in isolation wards and 573 persons have been quarantined at various residencies and hotels.

Meanwhile, speaking to media persons, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that Goa is the only state which conducts COVID-19 tests of every passenger who comes to Goa by train and also keeps them under institutional quarantine.

When asked about charging an amount of Rs 2,000 also for Goans, he explained, "This is not the cost of only testing, but it includes charges of quarantine stay and food, among others."
