MARGAO: "Keeping the work of South Goa District Hospital pending is a total injustice on the people of South Goa. It is very surprising that the government does not has money for an important project which is related to the health of Goans," stated Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat. He further said that if such things continue to happen then the hospital will not be able to commence this year too.

"At the recently concluded Assembly session I had raised this issue in the house. And at that point in time Chief Minister had assured me that he will immediately release the fund for the project, which is pending due to the non-availability of funds from the government. Without the funds, the project cannot be completed," he added.

Digambar further said that the Hospicio's situation is very bad and time and again he has raised this issue before the government. "There is no other facility in South Goa, with regard to health services. People have to go to Goa Medical College, which is already over burdened. New South Goa District Hospital was a special project and it was a project of special-purpose vehicles. But Goa State Industrial Development Corporation failed to complete this project due to the non-availability of the funds," he stated.

Reacting to the questions of reporters he said that the agitation cannot resolve this issue. "The government should take it seriously and complete the project so that common people are benefited," he further added.

Digambar is of opinion that the government must list out the more important and less important project needed in Goa. "There are lots of projects which are completed by the government but due to no maintenance, those projects are in bad shape," he stated.
