PANAJI: Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) leader Ramakrishna 'Sudin' Dhavlikar demanded the resignation of Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho for failing to implement the new Motor Vehicle (Amendment) Act, 2019 in the State.

Dhavlikar said that the accident at Verna, that claimed the lives of three minors, was because the transport department failed to implement the Act in the State. Speaking to media persons at MGP headquarters in Panaji on Monday, Dhavlikar said, "One year has passed since the amended MV Act was sent to all states for implementation. But Goa government and its minister have not acted. He is neither bothered about the accidents not the people of Goa."

Government is turning a blind eye to all these races that happen at night," he said. "I demand that the transport minister should resign over non-implementation of the amended MV Act in Goa. If the Chief Minister has the guts, he should take strict action against the transport minister and immediately implement the amended Act," he said.

"The amended act has strict punishment for parents of minors who is caught driving. In my opinion, this accident has taken place due to the failure of the government to implement it in the State. Government is turning a blind eye to all these races that happen at night." MGP leader, Sudin Dhavlikar
