MARGAO: All Goa Suit Tailors Association, Margao on Wednesday urged the government to take utmost precautions in granting tailoring licenses to the outside persons by getting their full police verification.

As informed by the vice president of the above association, Imtiaz Shaikh held an emergency meeting at Margao and the above resolution was passed.

"A case has been reported wherein a tailor by name Gulsher Ahmed, a native of Uttarakhand, running his tailoring business in the name and style of 'Perfect Fit' in Odessy building, Navelim and also in Baboy Complex near Parina Ice Parlour at Margao became friendly with one woman customer who wanted to get stitched her costume and he promised to help her to go abroad for a job.

And in order to meet an agent to take her abroad, he brought her to a hotel at Canacona and allegedly raped her and he has been at present confined to policy custody," he informed. Imtiaz further said that the above incident is totally shocking and a set back to their tailoring business.

"Needless to say that the public should keep themselves alert, particularly the women visiting the tailoring shops to get their costumes stitched," he added.
