ENERGY EFFICIENCY & RENEWABLE ENERGY
The airport has taken significant steps to reduce energy consumption and environmental impact. It has installed LED lighting across all buildings and Airfield Ground Lighting (AGL) systems, which not only reduce energy use but also enhance the facility’s overall sustainability.
Furthermore, Mopa Airport has installed a 5 MWp Solar PV unit, generating renewable energy to power the airport’s operations, reflecting its commitment to clean energy and a carbon-neutral future.
ELECTRIC GROUND HANDLING EQUIPMENT
The airport operates electric ground handling equipment and buses, eliminating the emissions associated with traditional fuel-powered machinery.
This initiative contributes to a cleaner, greener environment by significantly reducing the airport's carbon footprint.
REDUCTION OF GREENHOUSE GAS (GHG) EMISSION
Mopa airport employs Fixed Electrical Ground Power (FEGP) and Pre-Conditioned Air (PCA) systems, which minimise the use of Auxiliary Power Units (APUs) in aircraft and bridge-mounted equipment.
This significantly reduces GHG emissions and helps maintain cleaner air quality around the airport.
SUSTAINABLE WATER MANAGEMENT
The airport has implemented an advanced rainwater harvesting system, including inline harvesting pits and recharge ponds, which allows it to capture and reuse rainwater.
During the monsoon season, up to 30 per cent of the harvested rainwater is recharged, further supporting the airport’s commitment to sustainability and resource conservation.
