Wilfred and Filipe back Nuvem, Velim independent candidates

MARGAO: Despite being a MLAs of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Wilfred D'Sa and Filipe Neri Rodrigues have declared their support to the independent candidates in Nuvem and Velim Zilla Panchayat constituencies.

It may be recalled that a few months back 10 Congress MLAs had split from the party and had joined hands with the BJP government and Filipe Neri and Wilfred were two amongst them. 

Speaking to GT, Anthony Dias from Nuvem said that it is a clear cut signal that Wilfred has a fear that his candidate may lose the election if contested on the BJP symbol. "There are hardly few supporters of BJP in Nuvem constituency and it is mostly dominated by the Congress. Wilfred too had won from Nuvem on the Congress ticket," Dias added. 

The same is the situation of the Velim constituency. BJP Minister Filipe Neri also fears the same and despite being a BJP Minister he has supported the Independent candidate. Sarpanch of Velim panchayat, Savio D'Silva said that BJP failed to put their candidate in the Velim Zilla Panchayat election.

"Because they and especially the BJP Minister Filipe have fear of losing his candidate if contested on BJP symbol. It is the defeat of BJP and Filipe," D'Silva added.  D'Silva further said that if BJP is so much confidence that they should have shown the guts to declare their candidates in Velim and Nuvem constituencies.
