Goa lost to Punjab in the quarterfinals by 45 runs in the semi-final on Sunday, 6 December in Bengaluru.
Punjab successfully defended 235 runs and bundled out Goa for 190 in 48 overs.
Electing to bowl first after winning the toss, the Goan bowling unit was in a great rhythm as they took the first Punjab wicket in the second over. However, Punjab's captain Vishwa Pratap Singh (36) and Nehal Vadhera (46) scored 85 for the second wicket and steadied the Punjab ship after a shaky start.
Spinner Mohit Redkar finally broke the partnership as he dismissed both Vishwapratap Singh and Nehal Vadhera in the space of two overs. He also dismissed Naman Dhir and Pukhraj Mann, ending with 10-1-43-4.
Punjab was 159 for 7 in the 37th over when Ikjot Singh Thind (19) and Abhinav Sharma (29) put on 53 for the eighth wicket to take the team to 235. This partnership was crucial for Punjab. Apart from Mohit, Samit Aryan Mishra and Nihal Surlakar took two wickets each for Goa.
In the second innings, Goa had a good start. Avishkar Mone scored 31 in 19 balls with five fours and one six to give Goa a 46-run opening stand. But after his dismissal, the Goan batting suffered a collapse. Goa felt the absence of their regular skipper Suyash Prabhudesai as they were struggling at 66-4.
The Goan lower middle-order tried holding the innings as Tunish Sawkar scored 29 with Mohit Redkar's 20. Number nine batter Dheeraj Yadav top-scored for Goa with 41 runs in 46 balls. Prince Balwant Rai of Punjab took four wickets, Abhinav Sharma three and Paras Jaidka two as the Goa innings was folded for 190.
