Panaji: Government College of Arts Science & Commerce, Quepem emerged runners-up in women’s section at the Inter-Collegiate Athletics Championship organized by Goa University. Overall the Quepem college bagged 18 medals comprising of three gold, two silver and 13 bronze medals. Middle and long distance runner Rohini Gaonkar created a new record in 5000 m run, breaking the previous record set 22 years ago. She also bagged the gold in 1500 m run. The other gold came from Dipti Gaonkar, who won the 800 m. She also won a silver in 400 m. Kavita Devidas claimed silver medal in hepthathlon and Harichandra Velip won bronze in 400 m hurdles. The Quepem college women's 400 m relay quartet of Kavita Devidas, Dipti Velip, Tanvi Devidas and Vaibhavi Gaonkar finished third in the event, while the men's team comprise of Aldrin Mascarenhas, Tushar Gaonkar, Allen Vaz and Kalpanath Gaonkar did likewise in the event. The men's 1600 m quartet of Allen Vaz, Gravillo Lima, Harichandra Velip and Kalpanath Gonkar also had to be satisfied with a bronze-medal finish. Resurgent NEROCA prepared to tackle leaders Mohun Bagan
