'We have to go for the three points, nothing less,' says Coach Khalid Jameel

Jamshedpur FC will take on Northeast United for the first time in the 2021-22 ISL season. The Men of Steel have scored 13 points as the sixth seed, whereas the Highlanders are placed tenth with eight points.

Under Head Coach Owen Coyle, Jamshedpur FC has won three of the nine matches and drawn four. In the previous match, they suffered a gut-wrenching 1-0 defeat to Chennaiyin FC. The Red Miners had to settle for a draw against Bengaluru FC and Kerala Blasters as they only have one victory in the last five games.

Jamshedpur head coach Owen Coyle talked about the team's performances before facing Northeast United in a press conference on Wednesday, 5 January. Coyle said," "We've had a couple of opportunities that we let slip by. We should have had something from the Chennaiyin game. But Chennaiyin rode their luck, and they got their points. That's the margins in the league. We know we are capable of winning games. We need to be more clinical in front of goal."

The Red Miners' defence has remained rock solid despite the dip in form. The club has conceded just one goal from open play in their past four games.

Northeast United held the defending champions Mumbai City FC to a 3-3 draw in their last match. Deshorn Brown scored a brilliant hat-trick on his return. But despite recent heroics, the Highlanders have put up only eight points from nine games with two wins and a draw. In the press conference, head coach Khalid Jameel talked about the team the positives since the last games. He said, "We did well in the last match and got a long time to recover. We are playing a good side. Against Jamshedpur but we have to go for the three points, nothing less. Everybody is ready. We must stay positive and work hard."
