Mickky Pacheco acquitted in beach driving case

A Judicial Magistrate First Class Court in Margao on Monday acquitted former minister Francisco Mickky Pacheco and two others accused of causing injury to a man and driving his vehicle on a beach in South Goa due to lack of credible evidence.

In March 2018, an offence was registered against Pacheco by the Verna police for driving his vehicle on the Consua beach and causing damage to the parachute owned by a watersports operator.

The former Minister has been known for his many run-ins with the law. In 2006, he assaulted a junior engineer of the electricity department for which he was first convicted in 2011 and later on, spent six months in jail. In 2010, an FIR was lodged against him for abetment of suicide after the mysterious death of his girlfriend Nadia Torrado.
