It may be noted on Tuesday evening people noticed that empty shells from naval firing landed in the residential areas. Few shells were even penetrated into the tiled roofs as well as on the road. Thereafter people rushed to the Colva police station urging to help them.
Speaking to reporters, Francisco D'Costa said, "We are very much worried about the safety of people and especially of our children. Because some of the shells landed on the residential houses," he stated.
Another woman from the same locality also said that concerned authorities should help us with regard to the safety of the people. "Tomorrow the shells may hurt us or our children, and hence earlier precautions are needed," she urged.
Soon after hearing the news of the panicky situation of the locals on Thursday Navy team rushed at the site and took stock of the incident.
Carmonkars had faced a similar incident some 10 years ago, some were even injured at that time. The same thing happened once again on Tuesday at 5 in the morning. The women were just getting up to prepare breakfast when the shells rained down.
