The yellow alert continues in Goa as rains intensify

Goa is the midst of the Ganesh Chaturthi celebration but the monsoon seems to have other plans as rains have intensified in the Ghats and areas of Sattari's ValpoiSanquelim, Sanguem, and Ponda. Last month, Goa received heavy rainfall which was four per cent higher than India's average rainfall from June till September.

Heavy rains have hit Ponda, Sanguem and Pernem areas since morning. The rains continued in the Panaji city area as well. The state received 23.0 mm of rainfall during the day.

So far, Goa has recorded 115.3 inches of rain, which is above average.

The 'yellow alert' will continue for the next two days and the possibility of torrential rains in some areas has already put a damper on the market due to the Covid pandemic.
