Seventh India International Science Festival to be held in Goa for 3 days

More than 10,000 students from across the country will participate in this three-day event.

The 7th International Science Festival of India will be held from December 10 to December 13, 2021, in Panjim, Goa. The festival will be inaugurated by the Union Minister for Science and Technology Dr. Jitendra Singh. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Union Minister Shripad Naik, Union Secretary Dr. M. Ravichandran, Dr. Chandrasekhar, Dr. Shekhar Mande, Dr. Rajesh Gokhale and senior scientists Javed Beg and Suhas Godse will also be present on the occasion.

The festival is being organised in collaboration with the Union Ministry of Geology, Department of Science and Technology, Vigyan Bharati, National Institute of Polar and Marine Research and Government of Goa. Over 10,000 students from all over the country will participate in the festival, which will take place in hybrid mode -- virtual mode and offline mode. Last year, due to the pandemic, the festival was conducted in virtual mode.

The theme of this year' s festival is 'Celebrating Creativity in Science'. IISF 2021 will host 12 events, including science and technology exhibitions. Since India is celebrating 75 years of Independence, the various programmes will fall under the five categories, namely Freedom Struggle, ideas @75, actions@75, resolve@75 and achievements @75.

About 2000 traditional artists will present scientific roles through their works of art. The festival will also feature different activities such as: 1) Three activities from the students at the science festival will be recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records; 2) Seven thousand students will participate in rainwater harvesting and will give a message; 3) Students will have the opportunity to see the world's largest telescope at the festival; 4) Students will build a replica of the Gaganyaan rocket.
