This Sunday, May 18, put on your thinking caps, lace up your shoes, kickstart your two-wheeler and ride off on a treasure hunt in the historic village of Chandor in South Goa.
‘Lost Legend of Chandor – A Treasure Hunt’, brought to you by Chandor’s history and heritage buffs—Adonis Rodrigues, Frazer Fernandes, Stencia Peixoto and Sanita Diniz of SIMPLIZ—will take you across the village unearthing clues that will eventually land you a treasure of cash, trophies and medals.
All you need is a phone, a bike to travel on and the curiosity to decipher the clues, as the unique event is designed to bridge the gap between the past and present, turning this quaint village into a playground.
In a candid chat, Adonis, who is spearheading the treasure hunt, said that events like these help to educate and engage today’s generation with the rich heritage, culture and legacy of Chandor, in a fun-filled way, promoting history and community bonding.
“Nowadays, everyone is focused on commercialising events, often overlooking what truly deserves attention. Football and cricket tournaments are held frequently in the village. So, this time, we wanted to do something different and on a much larger scale. That was the main motivation to organise this treasure hunt,” he says.

For Adonis, the inspiration came from his passion as a content creator who enjoys delving into Goa’s festivals, traditions, local stories, and culture. He creates videos and reels that showcase Goa's traditions and celebrations.
Talking about the event, he informs participants will be given various clues which will eventually lead them to knowing more about the village of Chandor.
“We will be placing clues in different parts of Chandor because the village has a very rich history and there are a lot of archaeological facts associated with it. So, there will be clues shared about a historic place or thing, and participants will have to go online to search for more information on it,” says Adonis.
With a focus on youth involvement and local pride, he says, “People from Chandor and Guirdolim have seen these places and know quite a bit. As of now, we have over 15 participants who have registered.”
There are prizes worth Rs 5,000, trophies, medals and special rewards for Best Costume and Bonus Clue too.
