The Museum Of Goa, Pilerne, is organising a talk on ‘Tropical Forest Restoration: How to Bring a Degraded Forest Back to Life’ on Sept 10, 2023. The resource person for the event will be Alex Carpenter, a passionate naturalist with a fascination for snakes and tropical ecology.
The talk will focus on restoring tropical forests and discuss their environmental, ecological and economic significance.
Carpenter is also expected to shed light on the recent forest fires in Goa, which destroyed over 4 sqkm of forest land, including parts of three wildlife sanctuaries.
Carpenter has spent the past 8 years in Goa, where he is involved in forest restoration efforts in the Mhadei Wildlife Sanctuary. He is also working on sustainable agriculture and an eco-tourism project covering an area of over 150 hectares.
