Early Bird and Karnataka-based Rainmatter Foundation have announced five bird walks across India. These walks will be led by naturalists and held in Agartala, Dehradun, Mysore, Tirupati and Panjim.
The walks are part of Rainmatter Foundation’s ‘Walking Lightly’ campaign, being observed throughout the month of June to mark World Environment Day.
In Goa, this walk has been organised by Arannya Environment Research Organisation, and will be held on June 10, 2023 at Carambolim lake, North Goa.
These walks are designed for children between 9 and 13 years of age, and go beyond mere identification of birds. The walks will look at topics such as bird habitat and behaviour, and include games and activities for children to provide them with a holistic understanding of birds.
Early Bird is a learning programme to bring children closer to birds and nature, and has innovative educational material on Indian birds in 8 Indian languages. Rainmatter Foundation is a non-profit organisation with a network of over 65 organisations, working in areas like forests, water, soil, farm, food systems, ecology, energy and transport.
