Kulturekatta, an experiential platform devoted to culturally rich events, is joining forces with plant artist Vaishali Kasture of @kanmani.things to host a series of kokedama workshops on January 25 and 26.

Set across four distinct venues in North Goa, these hands-on sessions invite participants to discover the ancient Japanese art of moss-wrapped planting.

FOR BOTH, BEGINNERS AND EXPERTS

Whether you’re a curious beginner or an avid gardener, you’ll learn to craft and care for your own living creation while reconnecting with nature, embracing mindful creativity, and preserving a timeless cultural tradition.

At its core, kokedama is more than just a craft—it’s a celebration of mindfulness, tradition, and eco-conscious living. Rooted in Japanese bonsai practices, the technique transforms simple plants into stunning, self-contained works of art that can be displayed in homes, gardens, or offices.

STEP-BY-STEP GUIDANCE

These workshops are open to everyone, from beginners who have never handled a houseplant to experienced gardeners looking to try something new. Each session provides step-by-step guidance in crafting a kokedama, starting from plant selection and soil preparation to wrapping the roots in moss and securing the final design with twine.

Participants will leave the workshop not only with a beautiful, handmade moss ball to display but also with the knowledge and confidence to create more on their own.

MATERIALS PROVIDED

All materials—including plants, soil mix, moss, and twine—are provided, ensuring participants can fully focus on the experience. Each session is intimate and interactive, with a maximum of 15 participants per venue, allowing for one-on-one attention and plenty of room for creativity.

The workshops will be led by Vaishali Kasture, the creative force behind @kanmani.things. A passionate plant lover and craft enthusiast, Vaishali’s journey began during the pandemic when gardening became a therapeutic activity for her and her daughter.

REGISTER EARLY

“Kokedama is a magical blend of creativity and nature. It’s incredible how such a simple technique can transform a plant into a beautiful, living sculpture. Sharing this art with others is my way of bringing people closer to nature and mindfulness,” Vaishali shares.

Spaces are limited, so early registration is encouraged to secure your spot in this one-of-a-kind workshop series, says Vidula Tade, Founder of Kulturekatta.
