Over 26 per cent voter turnout was recorded in the polling for 40 Assembly constituencies of Goa on Monday till 11 am, according to officials. Sanguem constituency has recorded the highest turnout of 32. 87 per cent, while Canacona recorded 30.6 per cent among the seats till 11 am.
Priol constituency has recorded voter turnout of 29.91 per cent while Cuchorem has recorded 29.84% till 11 am.
Mandrem, Poriem, Saligao and Dabolim have registered voter turnout over 28 per cent till 11 am.
Bicholim seat has 27.39 per cent voting. Mapusa has recorded 27.39 per cent turnout and Pernem have recorded 26.98 per cent turnout.
A total of 301 candidates are in the fray for 40 constituencies. Besides the candidates of the BJP, Congress, Aam Aadmi Party, Goa Forward Party (GFP), Trinamool Congress Party, Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP), NCP, Shiv Sena, Revolutionary Goans, Goencho Swabhimaan Party, Jai Mahabharat Party and Sambhaji Brigade, there are 68 Independent candidates. The Independents include rebels from the main political parties.
