Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidates for the Goa assembly election took a pledge of loyalty to the party and voters in the presence of Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal
AAP candidates also took an oath against corruption and defection and signed a legal affidavits that they will not defect to any other party post elections.
Stating the Goan politics is reeling from "corruption and disloyal party candidates, Kejriwal said, "Today our candidates have signed an affidavit to ensure Goans that if we our candidates win, they will only work for the party and not accept any money or change the party."
He said the affidavits will be given to the electorate to build their confidence towards honest politics. "If anyone breaches the oath then voters can file a case against them," he said.
"We have a written document to show to the people. Anti-defection laws needs to stricter especially in Goa because the voters are getting fooled," Palekar said.
On being asked why the party candidates did not take the oath in at religious places, Kejriwal said, "taking an oath in temples, churches or mosque is fine but in democracy people are God."
Taking a dig at the Union Minister Amit Shah who said some parties are indulging in freedbie, Kejriwal said, "If Amit Shah getting free electricity is fine then common people are also entitles to get free electricity."
On Saturday, January 22, 36 Congress candidates for the Goa assembly election had pledged their loyalty to the party at three religious institutions; a temple, a church and a mosque.
