Former MMC chairperson Nandadeep Raut

A day after two-time BJP Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida joined Congress Party, Former Mormugao municipal council chairperson Nandadeep Raut said that his position as a Congress candidate for Vasco had strengthened with Carlos Almeida's entry into Congress.
"Congress has already announced that they will go in for a fresh and yound face this time and Almeida will only strengthen Congress and me in Vasco." Raut said.
"I am confident that the party will decide the right candidate because I have taken works of over Rs 50 crore as MMC chairperson," he added.
He further said that Almeida's relationship with the people will give a new impetus to the Congress in Vasco. "Congress party will definitely have success in the upcoming assembly elections," Raut said.
With the assembly elections in Goa just two months away, it's become like a political earthquake in the state as many of the veteran Congress Leaders left the party and joined other parties, whereas some MLAs and Independent MLAs resigned joined BJP.
However BJP also was hit as its main leaders from stronghold in Cortalim and Vasco in Mormugao taluka switched over to other parties. will make it difficult to flourish as Cortalim MLA Alina Saldanha joined AAP and Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida joined Goa Pradesh Congress. This is likely to cause a problem for BJP in the upcoming elections in Cortalim and Vasco.
