Two days after he met Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee, Nationalist Congress Party's (NCP) Benaulim MLA Churchill Alemao continues the suspense around his decision to join the West Bengal-based party ahead of Goa elections in 2022.
Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, December 1, Alemao said he will announce his decision in two weeks.
"I had been patiently waiting in hope for a possible alliance of NCP and Congress for 2022 elections. In the next two weeks, I have a public meeting to announce my future course of action," he said.
Taking a dig at BJP and Congress, he said, "Although both the Congress and the BJP look different on the outside, they are the same on the inside."
He further said he will join a party that has the power to take on BJP. "I would join a party that can take on BJP by storm."
Earlier, the lone NCP MLA in the Goa assembly had set December 29 as the deadline for his party to decide an alliance with Congress, failing which he would be free to make his own decision.
Alemao held a meeting with Mamata Banerjee in Kolkata along with his daughter Valanka. The meeting was believed to be a precursor to his entry into TMC.
