Congress' Mayem Block Committee member Arjun Prabhugaonkar on Tuesday, tendered his resignation from the party's membership to protest against Congress's decision to allot Mayem seat to alliance partner - Goa Foward party.

In a letter addressed to the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President, Prabhugaonkar wrote, "I the undersigned would like to submit my resignation from the party membership of the Congress Party."

"The only reason for my resignation is the protest against the seat-sharing decision taken without considering our opinion with Goa Forward Party. The same is to be considered as my official resignation from the membership of Indian National Congress," he added.

This comes a day after the 35-member committee of Mayem Block submitted their resignation from the party. Arjuna Prabhugaonkar was considered as Congress's probable candidate for the Mayem seat.

Congress Mayem Block president Rajesh Gaonkar along with Deelip Gawas said that they don't want to work for GFP's Mayem candidate Santoshkumar Sawant. They alleged that those who betrayed Congress has been nominated while those working hard have been sidelined.
