
Former MPDA Chairman Krishna Daji Salkar on Tuesday, November 30, joined the BJP in the presence of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho, Panaji MLA Atanasio ‘Babush’ Monserratte and BJP State President Sadanand Shet Tanawade, ahead of Goa Elections 2022.
Salkar was inducted into the party along with councillors Shami Salkar and Shailesh Borkarat at a grand event in the state capital in the presence of hundreds of supporters from Vasco.
Speaking at the event, Salkar said, “We have been waiting for this moment for five years. I stood Independent in 2017, however, we did not give up the BJP ideology/”
“Many leaders and karyakartas will be joining BJP in the coming days. The work of the Central government led by Hon Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has made a strong impression on the people who wish to work with the BJP and make the country a strong nation in the world,” Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said.
Panchayat Minister Gudinho said that Salkar belonged to BJP and has made a comeback.
In 2017, Salkar contested against the incumbent MLA Carlos Almeida as an Independent and lost by a small margin of 750 votes.
