Hours after Congress decided to field its candidates from San Andre, Goa Forward Party (GFP) leader Jagdish Bhobe resigned from the party and joined the Trinamool Congress in a hurriedly held ceremony.
Bhobe was already rewarded with a ticket from St Andre within hours after he joined TMC. He joined Mamata Banerjee-led party in the presence of Lok Sabha MP and TMC Goa in-charge Mahua Moitra and Rajya Sabha MP Luizinho Faleiro along with his supporters.
Soon after the Congress party announced its candidate for the St. Andre assembly constituency has alleged that Congress has decided to field a weak candidate like Anthony Fernandes against the BJP's Francis Silvera.
Speaking to reporters, Bhobe alleged there is a hidden alliance between Congress and the BJP in Goa. "The Congress candidate has been working for the BJP for the last 10 years. The Congress candidate who was elected in 2017 split in 2 years and joined BJP. So now this new Congress candidate has split even before he was elected. Congress cannot defeat BJP."
However, Bhiobe refused to comment on GFP when reported grilled him on his stance on leaving the party.
Bhobe expressed confidence that he will emerge victorious and claimed that Trinamool Congress is the only viable option to defeat BJP
Luizinho Faleiro aid TMC is currently the only option to defeat BJP in Goa and that is why leaders like Bhobe are joining the party. "Bhode is a tall leader with good qualities," he said.
