Netta D'Souza, president of the All India Women's Congress, on Monday, January 3, attacked the Narendra Modi government over price rise, saying that "Modi means inflation".

Speaking at a press conference in Panaji, D'Souza said that the people were happy during the Congress rule, but now the BJP has given a gift to inflation. "The recent increase in GST has also proved the BJP's insensitivity towards the people of the country," she said.

Netta said that Wholesale Price Index (WPI) of 14.23 per cent in November 2021, inflationary pressures are on the rise, the highest in the last 10 years and the effects are likely to be more intense in the coming New Year.

"Like the last seven years, this year too, the Modi government's gift to the people of the country is inflation. The unemployment rate has also risen to 7.5 percent, "said D'Souza.

Amarnath Panajikar said that the BJP's double engine government has given double inflation to the people of the country. The insensitive BJP government is harassing the people by increasing inflation.

She further stated, it will affect jobs. At least 1.5 million people will lose their jobs, clothing and footwear would become more expensive as GST on it was raised from 5% to 12 %. Also, the price of FMCG products will go up by 10 per cent.

D'Souza said that during the Congress, the price of a cooking gas cylinder was Rs 400, but now it has gone up to Rs 1,000.

"It will be expensive to withdraw our own money from ATMs as banks will charge Rs 21 from their customers, online booking of cars and buying cars or automobiles online will be expensive. Steel and cement prices will continue to rise" she stated.

Congress Social media President Amarnath Panajikar, Women congress vice president Sonal Malvankar, St.andre bock president Pelagea Rapos, Cumburjua women president Maria Varela and others were present on the occassion.
