Former Union Minister and Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram on Saturday said only Congress can send the BJP home and the people of Goa have responding positively to grand old party's campaign.
Addressing a press conference in Panaji after conducting door-to-door camapign, Chidambaram said, "I am very optimistic about this and we will demand the formation of a government as soon as we get the majority," he said.
He said all the promises made by the Congress will be fulfilled when the party comes to power in the state.
"Our candidates have the political capacity to deliver on their promises and deliver effective governance. Our MLAs will stay together and all the promises made in the manifesto will be fulfilled, "he said.
He also said the history of defection would not happen again as he was doing his best to protect his party. "We are confident that the people of Goa will give a complete majority to the Congress," he said.
He said that it was the Congress that aggressively opposed the BJP. "All our senior leaders helped us in our campaign in Goa. He visited the constituencies and met the people and got to know their problems,” he said.
Attacking Prime Minister Modi, he said that Goa has become an election destination for Modi. "They come to Goa just in time for elections," he said.
