Tense moments were witnessed in the Navelim constituency on the polling day on Monday after candidates from Navelim including AAP candidate Pratima Coutinho, Congress candidate Avertano Furtado, NCP candidate Rehan Mujawar and independent candidate Digvijit Chavan accused TMC candidate Valanka Alemao's sister of distributing money to voters.

The Rumdamol Housing Board was the centre of attention on the polling day as all the candidates made claims and counterclaims. Almost all the candidates levelled allegations against Valanka's sister that she was sitting outside the house to allegedly woo voters.

Pratima said she saw the sisters sitting outside the house with bags but the duo rushed inside once when she tried to challenge them.

However, the house owners refused the claim and said, "If Pratima had any problems she should have told the police but instead she trespassed inside my house and created a big scene."

Pratim, Rehan, Avertano and Digvijit demanded that the Election commission order a probe and remain impartial.

The police rushed to the spot once they got the information on the incident.

Earlier in the morning, police had to order a lathi-charge after supporters belonging to TMC and NCP came face to face in the housing board area.
