As the results for the Goa Assembly Election 2022 are ongoing, it is quite interesting to see how couple candidates performed in their respective seats.

Bharatiya Janata Party had fielded two couple candidates which included Vishwajit Pratapsingh Rane and his wife Deviya Rane and Atanasio Monserrate and his wife Jennifer Monserrate.

Deviya Rane, who contested for the first time, won the Poriem seat by a huge margin of 13,943 vote.

Speaking to reporters after thumping victory, she said, "This is beyond my expectations and I didn't expect a huge margin. This was only possible because of the love and support from people of my constituency."

"People saw that the BJP was in the center therefore, they wanted to bring BJP once again in the state, so that development could happen," she added

Her husband, Vishwajit Rane, who contested from the Valpoi seat, got 14,462 votes while his nearest rival Revolutionary Goans chief Manoj Parab could secure only 6377 votes.

"The credit for their victory goes to the party and its workers who showed faith in us and also the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. We will continue to work for the people," Rane told reporters.

The Monserrate couple also retained their respective seats in Panjim and Taleigao constituency. Atanasio 'Babush Monserrate secured 6787 in Panjim, defeating Manohar Parriakr's son Utpal Parrikar who got 6071 votes.

Jennifer Monserrate imade way for the BJP in the Taleigao constituency by winning by 10,167 votes.

BJP’s Michael Lobo, who had quit the party and joined the Congress to fight from Calangute constituency, won by 9285 votes and defeated Joseph Robert Sequeira of the BJP. Another first timer and Michael Lobo's wife, Deliah Lobo, won from Siolim by securing 9,699 votes.

However, the couple luck didn't work in favour of the Kavlekars as Savitri Chandrankant Kavlekar and Chandrankant Kavlekar lost in their respective constituency.

TMC state president Kiran Kandolkar and his wife Kavita Kandolkar also lost from their respective constituency. Kiran Kandolkar contested from Aldona constituency, while his wife, Kavita, fought from Thivim constituency.
