In a rapid-fire interview, Gomantak Times speaks to NCP candidate from Shiroda, Subhash Prabhudesai
How is your election campaign going on so far?
A good candidate with a pure character should contest in the elections and also remain committed to the party for five years. I have been living in Garada village for the last 38 years. I am following the footsteps of late Dr. Sakaram Gude to examine the patients, will handle politics as well. My name is well-known in various parts of my constituency. Everyone knows me, therefore, I am getting good support and response from the electorate in the area. We should strive for the overall development of the constituency by using our intellect and without any discrimination.
What primary issues will you undertake if you are elected?
I will try my best to resolve the unemployment issue in Shiroda village as its increasing day by day. Besides, the constituency is agriculture-oriented, so priority will be given to the agri-horticulture business. I will also take efforts to solve the problem of good roads, electricity and water in the village. Skill Development will be undertaken and provide necessary training to the educated unemployed youth from each household.
Since you are a doctor, what health facilities will you provide?
To solve the health problems of the people of Shiroda, the current government has spent about Rs. 13,500 crore and a well-equipped hospital building were constructed at Kanchan karai, but it did not have a doctor who is a specialist for every disease. Not all types of equipment, X-ray ultrasound system works. If a patient arrives, he is sent later to Bambolim, or to a hospital in Margao or Ponda for treatment. So if such a well-equipped hospital is kept vacant, what is the benefit of it? Now in the modern and developed age, when a patient is admitted, online consultation, online treatment and another such thing should be taken into consideration.
How will you assist cultivation on the waste land in the constituency ?
Although the Shiroda constituency is full of horticulture, there is a lot of agricultural waste. By providing necessary assistance to the farmers on zero capital and using the technique of making the land fertile, water will be supplied to the irrigated orchards by installing sprinklers even on low water reserves. For this, it is planned to make water available from natural lakes.
What will you do to help the youth get government jobs?
Many highly educated youth are unemployed in villages today. The job call should be examined by the experts. Also, more than 250 youths from a single constituency get jobs and only two to three jobs are given the other constituencies.
Are you confident of wining the election?
In Shiroda constituency, eight candidates from different parties will contest this Assembly election. I have good relations with all these candidates. Workers from other parties are also working for my victory. The popularity among our people ultimately leads to victory. But with their support, I am sure I will win 100 per cent.
